Spotlighting Recent Successes: Saving Money on Equipment and Service Contracts with Remi

Iowa State University has a contract with Remi that is helping several of our labs continue to safely and effectively utilize equipment, and save money on their service agreements, including those items that have outlasted the warranty or service agreement with the original equipment manufacturer!

Two of the labs utilizing the contract with Remi for service coverage are fee-for-service labs that operate on a cost recovery model, which means they are also passing the savings on to those using the labs!

“REMI is great for basic repair services for non-critical instrumentation.  They reply promptly to email or phone calls, typically provide instrument diagnosis remotely, and quickly dispatch replacement parts for installation.  This may not be the quickest route to repair, but REMI offers significant cost savings compared to traditional service contracts, which helps the DNA Facility keep prices low for the ISU research community."

-David Wright, DNA Facility Manager

Advantages of using Remi for service coverage include discounted rates for the same repair and preventative maintenance services, as well as the ability to bundle equipment into one contract, with one contact.

“For the most part, the service technicians I knew were the same service technicians that REMI dispatched, so there was no change in service, but it was more affordable.  REMI went above and beyond for me when they flew in a technician from New Jersey to repair a centrifuge lid latch on a Mini-Ultracentrifuge.

They are upfront about the process and what equipment they can cover.  In addition, they could bundle some equipment together that they could not cover as individual pieces. This cost savings was excellent for my department and Iowa State University.

They have been wonderful to work with, and their customer service is outstanding."

-Megan Harrison, CVM Core Laboratory Manager
