Cory Harms

My Role in Procurement Services

As the Director of Procurement Services, I assist departments in managing unusual or difficult purchases or situations, as well as helping with challenging vendor issues. I am always happy to help departments with any procurement question.

Highlighting a Recent Project or Accomplishment

I am always excited to help departments with new projects. I have helped procure some interesting and fun things for campus, like Elwood, the giant gnome for Reiman Gardens, the scoreboards at Jack Trice and Hilton Coliseum, and the bouldering walls for Rec Services.

Jake Miller

My Role in Procurement Services

I work primarily with IT-related items such as software, computer hardware, web development, and audio-visual products.  I also work with data access (purchasing research data).  It is a wide range of items, and I am always interested to see the new and innovative ways Iowa State faculty and staff find to use it all.  If you find yourself with a need for a cool new gadget, whether it is computational fluid dynamic software, high-performance computing hardware, or you need access to specific research data, just let me know, I am happy to help with the process.

Highlighting a Recent Project or Accomplishment

I have assisted with several purchases, but there are two that I can think of that many people may have experience with.

I assisted with the purchase of our electronic signature platform, Adobe Sign.  This purchase allowed us to save hundreds of thousands of dollars over the term of the purchase while still providing a high-quality solution for Iowa State’s electronic signature needs.

The second is helping with the purchase of ISU Police’s license plate recognition system, which made it possible for the majority of people parking on campus to no longer need a hanging permit in their car.  Though I must admit I do miss seeing them in vehicles I see on the road, I always appreciated spotting a fellow Iowa State employee.
