My Role in Procurement Services

I am the Program Assistant for Procurement Services.  I assist my fellow Iowa State Employees by creating and issuing tax exemption certificates (Tax Exempt Request Form) and construction tax exemption certificates for the contractors Iowa State utilizes.  I review and work with suppliers to complete their supplier registration so that they can do business with Iowa State University.  I’m also the person who receives and responds to questions and inquiries received by the Procurement Help Desk (procurement@iastate.edu or 4-4860) and manages the ServiceNow tickets sent to Procurement Services.

Individuals can contact me when they need help with tax exemption or have questions regarding exemption status, and/or with any supplier or procurement-related questions.  As the Procurement Help Desk, if I can’t answer your question I can connect you with one of my colleagues with additional experience or expertise in the area who may be able to help.

Highlighting a Recent Project or Accomplishment

I am proud to be a part of the team that worked with hundreds of suppliers as we made the transition to being able to offer electronic payments. This allowed us to reduce the number of checks issued as well as to better meet the needs of our suppliers.  It also allowed us to increase the efficiency of our payment delivery and ensure payments are sent to the correct locations the first time.  Our goal was to make the transition as smooth as possible for each of the suppliers by communicating the rewards of e-payments such as secure transactions and quicker access to funds and to be available to address concerns and answer questions for those impacted.

My Role in Procurement Services

I am the Business Manager for Procurement Services.  I have been in this role for almost 4 years.  My major responsibilities in this role are overseeing the budget, monthly reconciliation of our 20 programs, maintaining our supplier conflict-of-interest files and reporting, managing public open records requests for Procurement records, creating financial transactions for gift cards purchases, and overseeing our Dryden audit process.

Highlighting a Recent Project or Accomplishment

One of my accomplishments is the creation of the Dryden audit process as it combines my two greatest strengths: organization and attention to detail.  Once Dryden, an external auditor, completes their portion of the annual cyBUY supplier audits, they provide me with the results.  I oversee and monitor the auditing process, complete follow-ups to make sure we recover any overcharges, and disperse the recovered funds back to the departments. This process has allowed Iowa State University to recover thousands of dollars.
