Role in Procurement Services - Procurement Agent
Besides handling large construction bids and managing time and material contractors on campus, I am the liaison between Procurement Services and FP&M. I help coordinate purchases of materials and services by directing them to the procurement agent with the most knowledge in that area.
Educational Background and Employment History
I graduated from Iowa State University with a B.S. in Finance. After graduating, I worked for a large construction firm that built power plants around the US; moving all over the states with stops in Texas, Alabama, Florida, California, Arizona and back to California. There I managed the business office onsite before moving into purchasing. After that, I worked as a buyer for a bookbinding material supplier, where I purchased various paper and cloth goods that are used in creating hardback books. I then became a Procurement Agent at Iowa State University, and have been here almost 9-1/2 years.
What do you like to do outside of work?
Besides cheering on my Cyclones at football games, most of the time you will find me at one of my two daughters’ events/activities. My oldest daughter, a senior at Valley in West Des Moines, is very involved in choir. Performing in the A Cappella ensemble and the varsity show choir. She also dances outside of school at a studio in West Des Moines. My youngest daughter who is a freshman at Valley, is active in athletics. She is currently playing volleyball on the 9th grade A team, and will more than likely be contributing to the varsity basketball team later this year. She also plays AAU basketball in the off season, and traveled quite a bit this summer for tournaments in places such as Milwaukee, Louisville and Sioux Falls.
